The music player that wears a skin

Nastro is a lightweight, native music player. Player, equalizer and playlist dock together, and the look is a skin you can swap. No account, no cloud, no telemetry: it plays your local files.

Early development: Linux first, Windows and macOS not verified yet.

Nastro in the Silver skin: the player playing a track with its spectrum visualizer, the equalizer below it and the playlist at the right. Nastro in the Graphite skin: the player playing a track with its amber spectrum visualizer, the equalizer below it and the playlist at the right.
  • Native, not a browserWritten in Rust on gpui, the GPU accelerated UI framework behind the Zed editor.
  • Light on your machineNo bundled web engine. An idle player does no work, so it stays small and quiet.
  • Local firstNo sign in, no sync, no telemetry. It plays the files on your disk.
  • Yours to keepOpen source under Apache-2.0, with a documented skin format.
Features

A classic layout, built to be changed

Three panels, one small program.

Docked panels

The player, a 10-band equalizer and the playlist snap to each other with magnetic edges and move as one group, or come apart to dock somewhere else.

Skins

Four built-in skins (Silver, Graphite, Porcelain and Nebula) and your own in a plain skin.toml file. Support for classic skins is planned.

Playlists as text

Playlists are plain M3U files, so other tools can read them and nothing locks you in.
